今日の命名規約ゼミでやったことの忘備録を兼ねて。
最近、多くのジャーナルでは掲載が決定した論文をweb上でearly viewとして公開している。そのように公開された論文の発表日だが、特に分類においては、紙媒体として発行された時点である。
それは、現在有効である動物命名規約第４版の9条8項の規定があるからだ。該当項を親条の9条とともに引用する。

Article 9. What does not constitute published work. Not with standing the provisions of Article 8, none of the following constitutes published work within the meaning of the Code:

9.8. text or illustrations distributed by means of electronic signals (e.g. by means of the World Wide Web)

条9. 公表したことにならないもの．条８の諸条項にかかわらず，次の各号はどれも，本規約の意味において公表したことにならない．

9.8.（たとえば，World Wide Webのように）電子信号として配信される文書や描画．

このように、web上での公開は、動物命名規約においては公表したことにならないと考えることができる。ZootaxaやZookeysのような電子ジャーナルも存在するが、これらのジャーナルも公表の要件を満たすために紙媒体での刊行を行なっているようで、ZootaxaのサイトのQ&Aには以下のような記述がある。

Does Zootaxa meet the criteria of valid publication set by ICZN?  I have not seen any statement in your journal that print copies have been deposited in at least five major publicly accessible libraries? 

Yes, Zootaxa is a valid publication by International Code of Zoological Nomenclature criteria.   The print edition of Zootaxa, like other publications, is issued for the purpose of providing a permanent public and scientific record.
